The Duo

Giulia Haible and Caroline Dressler perform traditional and contemporary Celtic music, including original compositions and arrangements. Inspired mainly by music from the Scottish tradition, Giulia and Caroline's sound features light harmonies, percussive riffs, and melancholic refrains. With instrumental combinations including cello, piano, fiddle and viola (with the occasional guitar, bass, or drum kit), they continue to widen the horizons of their experimentation. Giulia and Caroline have appeared alongside many U.S. Scottish fiddlers including Katie McNally (who produced their album, Dragonfly), Hanneke Cassel, Alasdair Fraser, and Natalie Haas. In 2014, they toured England and Scotland with Pete Sutherland and the Young Tradition Touring Group, and have since continued to play festivals and concerts throughout New England and the greater U.S. They are winners of the 2018 Fidelity Investments Young Artists Competition, and performed at Symphony Hall in June, 2018, conducted by Keith Lockhart and accompanied by the Boston Pops Orchestra. Their debut album, Dragonfly, was released in 2016.
